Georgia Local builds unique and eye-catching birdhouses

Many visitors around Bluffton have stopped to inquire about the unique birdhouse outside the Old Town Bluffton Inn. This handcrafted birdhouse is a detailed replica of The Church of the Cross, a local landmark that overlooks the May river. The birdhouse serves as a functional art piece—both a beautiful wooden sculpture and a place for local birds to perch. Just as the Old Town Bluffton Inn provides Southern hospitality to all our guests, this miniature Church of the Cross offers something similar to the local wildlife!

All Sparrow 10:29 birdhouses are designed and hand built by Jim, who originally began building birdhouses for his garden in Roswell, Georgia.

Jim has an expansive selection of birdhouses for sale on both his website and his Etsy shop. He also takes custom orders and can build a matching replica of an existing building.

These birdhouses make fantastic gifts! From a replica of a homeowner’s property, to a miniaturized version of the newlyweds’ wedding venue, to a model of a childhood home, customers have ordered custom birdhouses of all shapes and sizes!

The birdhouses are made with pine and rot-resistant cedar, chosen because it is safe for birds. The outside of the houses are painted with latex-coated acrylic, and Jim chooses his colors from a historical palette.

After admiring our miniaturized Church of the Cross, we have even had guests order birdhouses from Jim! We were able to arrange to have these picked up from our address, but Jim works with each customer to find an option that works for them, including local pickup or shipping.

Jim includes intricate details in his birdhouses, meticulous down to the window panes and doors.
