Fried Food Fans Rejoice: All About the Savannah Bacon Fest
What to Expect
If you love all things bacon, you truly won’t want to miss this event! The stars of the show are some of Savannah’s best local chefs—each year, they serve up a variety of mouthwatering bacon creations. Come ready to expect the unexpected! You’ll taste all kinds of unique, bacon-themed treats like bacon brownies, bacon candy, bacon popcorn, and even bacon cocktails. Of course, if you prefer a classic slice or two of crispy goodness, you’ll be able to find that, too.
Need to burn off some of that bacon you eat? Dance the day away to some live music, cheer on your favorite contestant at a pig race, see how a bacon-fueled motorcycle works, or try to hang onto a bucking mechanical pig. When you’re not sampling meaty treats, simply stroll Historic River Street and check out the array of local vendor booths. And since the Bacon Fest typically falls on the city’s “First Friday,” don’t forget to watch First Friday Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Bacon and Beer? Count Us In!
Each year, Savannah Bacon Fest organizers try to coordinate the event alongside the Savannah Craft Brew Fest, which is also hosted by the Savannah Waterfront Association. What’s better than sipping an icy cold beer, slice of bacon in hand? The Craft Brew Fest (held at the Savannah Convention Center) includes attractions such as indoor and outdoor beer gardens, a mixology garden, educational seminars, and much more! If you get bored of sipping special blends, there are cornhole tournaments and a silent disco, too.
Know Before You Go
The Bacon Fest features three full days of bacon-themed fun! The festivities are held at Rousakis Plaza on River Street, so plan to park accordingly. There are several public parking garages and a few lots available within walking distance. Be sure to check the Savannah Waterfront Association site for this year’s updated festival information!
