Your Guide to the Rose Hill Mansion in Bluffton, South Carolina

About the Mansion

The beautiful and historic Rose Hill Mansion holds a special place in Southern history. Now tucked away in a private community, the home was originally built in the late 1850s by planter and physician Dr. John Kirk. The historic house has survived the Civil War, a devastating fire, and years of neglect. Luckily, this important landmark has become privately owned and completely renovated over the last few decades. Though a private residence, the home’s first floor and grounds are open to the public for tours, weddings, events, photo shoots, and more.

Schedule a Tour

Most people choose to enjoy the stunning views and rich history of this home by scheduling a Rose Hill Mansion tour. Tours are offered on weekdays at 2:00 p.m. and last about an hour. You’ll learn all about the home’s unique architectural features, colorful past, and current owners. At the end of each tour, guests are treated to refreshments. These include Rose Hill jams and salsas, freshly baked cake, and peach tea. It’s a fantastic way to entertain out-of-town friends and family! Be sure to make a reservation.

Plan an Event

Whether you’re planning a glittering party, oyster roast, wedding, family reunion, or retreat, the Rose Hill Mansion is an unforgettable venue. This highly adaptable space lends itself well to both indoor and outdoor events and has hosted various corporate retreats, baby showers, and even family-friendly events like Easter egg hunts. Finally, groups of 50 to 500 guests can comfortably attend a Rose Hill Mansion event.
