All You Need to Know About the Coastal Discovery Museum
Whether you’re young at heart or have little ones of your own, the Coastal Discovery Museum is one of Hilton Head Island’s most memorable places to visit. Here’s everything you need to know about it!
What to Expect
The museum itself is situated on 68 beautiful acres of historic Honey Horn Plantation—a place with a rich history and panoramic marsh views. You’ll love exploring the museum’s trails, gardens, butterfly enclosure, and horse pasture. The historic Discovery House—the first part of the museum you’ll encounter—features the organization’s permanent exhibits, a gift shop, kids’ zone, and front desk. You can also explore the property’s other historic buildings: The Supervisor’s House, Pole Barn, and Horse Barn. If the spellbinding features of the museum aren’t enough, attend one of their events or go on a tour!
Admission is free, but the recommended entry donation is $5 (the museum is a nonprofit organization). Visitors may stop by Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
