The Beaufort Water Festival: A Time-Honored Lowcountry Tradition
The very first Beaufort Water Festival took place in July of 1956. Now, it’s one of the biggest outdoor events in the South! Community volunteers hold this event as a celebration of the people, places, and culture of Beaufort, a quintessential and historic Lowcountry town. In the early days, the lineup included beauty pageants, sailboat races, parades, ski shows, air shows, and more. Over time, the festival has grown both in size and popularity, drawing attendees from around the country. To keep up with the interests of festival-goers, new events are added each year.
Now, the 10-day extravaganza also includes exciting expositions featuring national and local artists, fishing and golf tournaments, an arts and crafts market, concerts, parades, and so much more. The Beaufort Water Festival has something to offer everyone!
